Exchanges were an adventure!

Hello again!! A lot of stuff happened this week! It was pretty normal up until Saturday and Sunday! But I'll get to that! 😊

Monday was pretty chill. Since we are out in the middle of no where and it's a far drive to get anywhere we just did our laundry at a members and emailed for a while at the church. And then Elder Webb knew a member named Bro Norris that he likes to go to and mess around with his model train set that he has in his work shop out in the back of his house. It was actually pretty cool. He has a huge set up that you walk around and it looks like a mini town all the way around and there's little model trains that go on train tracks around the whole thing. We were working on helping him set up 70 train cars go around the track all connected without any falling off the tracks. We almost had it but not quite. It was fun. We ate with afterwards. 

Today we are going to the Edwards Airforce Base (yes there is a airforce base right next to our apartment) and they have a bunch of cool stuff to do there. We are gonna go with the Muroc Elders and go bowling. We have to have one of there members that work there get us in but we should be good from there. It'll be a lot of fun. 

So on Saturday we were on exchanges with the Muroc Elders. Elder Lee and I were together in their area and Elder Webb and Elder Wasden were in our area. Elder Lee and I started off the day well by going by someone they had talked to in the past but hadn't been able to get in contact with him. He was outside in his garage when we pulled up so it was perfect and we were able to teach him the Restoration. He's super interested and saw the Book of Mormon in Elder Lee's hands and asked if he could have it!😂 That never happens! So I'm super excited for them to teach him the future. But so anyway we kept going by people Elder Lee had planned to see but Elder Lee discovered that he had a weird red lump on his leg. As we kept working it started to hurt and the pain started getting worse and as we kept going throughout the day the redness spread and the lump got bigger. So we got worried and called the mission nurse and she said she things it could be Cellulosis. Which is when bacteria gets under your skin and forms a lump and causes pain. But basically if you wait to long it can become very serious. So she didn't want to risk anything and gave us permission to go to the ER in Palmdale which is about an hour drive. So we immediately started the drive there. To speed the story up a little we got there and they drew his blood to see if the infection was in his blood and then we sat in the waiting room for about 3 hours before they finally decided to call us back. They did an oltra sound and then sent us back to the waiting room for about another hour or so. We finally got called back again and they had him get in a gown and they gave him a antibiotic shot and pill to help it. They said they weren't 100% sure if it might have been a bug bite of some sort or if it was indeed Cellulosis. They did end up diagnosing it as Cellulosis though. We ended up being there from 5:30p.m to midnight!!😭 It was ridiculous. But we still had some fun along the way and it was an adventure. Elder Lee's still in pain but he's getting his pills they persribed for him today to take. So hopefully it'll get better soon. He seems to be doing okay though.

OKAY! Sorry that was a long paragraph. Also yesterday we had an investigator come to church that Elder Webb had just meet on Saturday on exchanges! Which has never happened to me before so that was awesome! We are going to meet with her this week. 

So it was a little nerve racking and exciting week! I've really liked the area so far. The members are really cool here and we have a couple people we are trying to teach right now. Since we don't have too many people to teach at the moment our Ward Mission Leader, Bro James wants us to teach the lessons to less-active members to help strengthen their faith and hopefully come back to church. It'll be cool to see that play out!

(I love this verse because Lehi was a wealthy man. And he gave up literally all of it because he loved the Lord and knew that the Lord knew best and would provide for him and his family. So thus he dwelled in a tent. It shows his humility.)

So I put these two pictures together because it's Elder Bankhead and I at the beginning of his mission and at the end. I don't think we look much different besides my dorky haircut I had at the beginning of my mission and that we both look a little chubbier at the end haha😂
